‘Happy accidents’ in the garden occur when a coincidental or experimental combination or placement has particularly pleasing results. Gardeners can learn how to create these scenarios purposefully rather than by accident, using tried and true design principles. In this lecture, landscape designer Sue Gaviller discusses how to apply these universal principles to create greater unity and balance, whether planning a new garden or ‘editing’ an existing one.
