Admission

The Calgary Zoo is open all year, with the exception of December 25 and one day in September when we prepare for our annual gala fundraiser, Zoogala. We invite you to visit us year-round; no matter the season there’s always something to do at the zoo!

During the winter season, due to shorter daylight hours, some animals are “put to bed” before the darkness settles in beginning as early as 3:30 pm, both for their safety and the safety of our staff. Penguin Plunge closes at 4:30 pm as the light cycle in the building mimics our daylight hours; all other animal exhibit buildings close at 5pm.

Daily Hours of Operations

Winter (October 29, 2012 to March 21, 2013):
Concessions and retail open 9 am to 5 pm daily.
Buildings close at 5:00 pm, except for Penguin Plunge which closes at 4:30 pm.
Grounds close at 6 pm

Gates open 9 am to 5 pm daily
Food and retail services open 9 am to 6 pm daily
Buildings close at 5 pm, Penguin Plunge
closes at 4:45 pm
Grounds close at 6 pm
